Human Cloning
No Boo for You
We as a family do not celebrate Halloween. As we've studied the holiday's origin and purpose we feel as Christians we should not take any part of it. My son is great about understanding why we don't celebrate Halloween and now he doesn't even ask anymore about getting a costume. (To read about the origins of Halloween click here.)
What is hard about not celebrating the holiday is trying to stay in the house. So we've decided to take Noah and my niece, Eva, to Chuck E. Cheese's tonight. We're going to celebrate his good grades he got on his report card.
Great Job, son. I'm so proud of you.
CaCaCaCa Cold!!!
I was so cold riding my bike to work this morning. So hard not to stop. 36 degrees. bbbrrrrrr!!!
Normally on days like this I would have car pooled with my boss (and friend) but he has to leave early today. Since we both can't be out of the office I have to stay late, hence the driving the motorcycle. I just need to find a $500 car for cold days to drive to work. If anyone has a car that they have cheap that I can get, please, let me know!
I guess this is as good of a time as any to start my Christmas wish list.
- WrapChaps - great for riding in cold weather
- Tour Master Winter Elite Gloves
- Floorboards w/ Heel-Toe Shifter
- Purple and Yellow Heritage Soft tail (You know who you are!)
- A Daughter
- Money for next Guatemala mission trip
- .....and, world peace! (That's for you, Baby!)

'World's Worst Boxer' to Hang Up His Gloves After 256 Defeats
**One of the best stories I've read on the web.**
Boxing fans will gather in Birmingham, England, on Friday night to witness the final fight of a man who could be remembered as Britain's most spectacular loser.
Buckley has lost more fights than any other boxer in the world. Throughout his 256 defeats, he has remained magnificently undeterred. While the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) remained concerned that he could suffer serious injuries, Buckley persisted, losing fight after fight.
In the past five years he has put together a particularly impressive losing streak, failing to win in 88 successive bouts. He has lost to 42 future world, European, British and Commonwealth champions, including Naseem Hamed, and has fought more bouts than any other boxer in the world. But this one, No 300, will be his last.
"I've had my eye on the 300 mark for a while, and it's a little milestone I want to achieve, but I don't want to fight on," he said. "People keep saying to me that I'll get a call in a few weeks' time offering me a fight and I'll say yes, but I mean it when I say this is it."
There was a time, in the early 1990s, when Buckley did not seem destined for so luminous a career of defeat. He was a talented super-featherweight who won the Midlands area title. Then he discovered a more lucrative calling, as an opponent for boxers with hot prospects. He rarely won but had a good defense and took few punches. Over time, his reflexes slowed and he became easier to hit. Now 39, he has matured into a consistent loser.
Buckley has fought so often that he has turned up with a black eye before a bout. Though the BBBC continues to send him for medical tests, Buckley continues to pass them. Throughout his career, he has kept himself in a constant state of readiness, ready to lose a fight at a moment's notice anywhere in England. Buckley has been known to agree to bouts as late as 8 p.m. on the night of the fight.
His record. 31 wins, 12 draws, 256 loses = 299 fights

Photo Friday
Many years ago when I first attempted blogging we used to do this thing called "Photo Friday" where you post a picture you have taken YOURSELF (that's the key). So in keeping with tradition here it is.
I took this picture on my last visit to Guatemala. This is at one of our villages called Secomoxan (Say-como-chan). It's is very difficult to get here but the pay-off of spending time with the people is worth it. I always look forward to going there and spending time with our pastor there, Pastor Juan Pop. Love ya.

Did I ever mention that I drive 100 miles round trip everyday to work? Well I do. Must of the time it's a great time of riding my motorcycle, listening to my iPod and praying, but the last few days have been miserable with the fall temperatures coming in the area.
Monday I didn't go to work because of a bout with kidney stones, but Tuesday through today were nightmares. I can comfortably ride my motorcycle from 50 degrees on up. Tuesday morning on the way to work was 34 degrees and this morning warmed to an incredible 42 degrees.
I make sure that I'm covered up as best as possible without looking like a blob of clothes on a bike. Today, for example, I've put on a t-shirt, a polo shirt, a sweater, my leather coat, motorcycle gloves, two pair of socks, boots, jeans and long john's, but for some reason when I finish my 50 mile adventure I'm still freezing.
The only thing that helps me is that I'm not the only idiot feeling the same way, my boss rides right next to me. And that's priceless!!!!!

3 - 0
We're now 3 - 0! I've somehow seemed to take the reigns in coaching Noah's team. The guys did a great job in the game. We won 34 - 18 and beat what was labeled as the best team in the league. Noah caused 3 interceptions and had a safety. He also QB'ed some of the game. (That's my boy!) After the game there were some parents standing and watching their kids play in the game after ours and they were saying and pointing to our team and saying that we're the team to beat. That's cool!!!
Before the game Coach Paul was telling the kids that winning isn't everything, but having fun is. I don't know. I only seem to have fun when I'm winning. There's a sense of completion in winning. You also can rejoice in the finished work. But this is a christian league and they want the kids to feel good about playing.
I talked to Coach Paul after the game about this. I asked him if the Bible doesn't say that we are to run to "win", and didn't Christ "conquer" sin and death. I told him that we shouldn't beat up the kids for doing something bad but they have to learn to play to win.
If you don't play to win then don't play at all.
That just might be me. I'd be interested to here your thoughts on this.

Moments
Since I've left Verizon and the retail world I have really enjoyed having my weekends and evenings off. I get to spend time with Sherry (my lovely wife of almost 9 years, wow!) and Noah ( my football player son). You know sometimes I feel like I haven't been there to really know them good. Working the retail hours and the stress of a busy life just took it's toll.
I was laying on the bed last night and Noah had just gotten out of the shower and put on his pajamas, when he came and laid on my back. I thought he was wanting to wrestle in bed like he's done before, but instead he said, "I just want to lay here like You, Daddy." I love those moments!

This is how I feel...
Talking with a friend the other I realized how fast life has gotten. I always thought that I had time for everything but now I see have no time for anything. The times spent busy doing things your mind reminds you of much you haven't accomplished. Then the times you are bored you spend your time wishing you had something to do. Why is that?
"In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us." 2 Thess. 3:6
Why does the Bible say "to keep away from" those who are "idle?" What does it supposed to mean? Am I "idle" if I feel bored?

When pride comes, then comes disgrace
I thought i might write a couple of things down that really impacted my life.
1. As men we owe our wives. Yea, they deal with our junk, deal with the kids, and deal with the house, but, as Pastor Mike said this weekend, they gave up their freedom to be with us. That so does not compute in my brain of how and why my wife would give up her freedom for this joker. I don't deserve that.
2. As I was doing my devotional on Friday morning I began to read Proverbs 3 when I began to break and cry. Verse 7 and 8 jumped right off the page at my heart and God began to deal with my heart.
"Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones." Pro. 3:7-8
I've never seen the connection between being prideful and fearing the Lord like this before. I knew pride was bad and God opposes those who are but it was just the wording of that verse that really showed how prideful I was. I was(am) always a person that always relied on my natural abilities to do things for the Lord and now realize that I was(am) a banging cymbal, or worse, one of who the Lord stands opposed to. To imagine that God was opposed to my way of life was absolutely unbearable. But thanks to the mercies of God that ARE new every morning He began to flood my spirit with his love. I thank God for the talents and abilities He has given to me but I only want to be used for Him and His glory so that that His name might be made known and not mine.
I hope some how that I never forget this lesson. Amen.
