He' so excited!

We broke the news to Noah on Christmas morning that he was no longer an only child. We made the iron-on and put it on a shirt and put it in his stocking...it was from Santa of course.

Tired from the holidays.

Wow...the holidays can really wear you out. We've been really busy with church, work, families and yes, even hospitals.

I can finally say that Sherry and I are expecting our second child, hence being busy at the hospital.

Sherry suffers from a condition called hyperemesis during pregnancy. It's a condition where she is constantly throwing up and getting to a point where she feels faint and weak. It sounds like typical morning sickness, but it's not. Morning sickness can last for a few hours and typically is gone between the 8th and 12th week. Hyperemesis is a 24-7 illness and last well into the 6th or 7th month of the pregnancy. Sherry normally sleeps in the bathroom so as to be close to the toilet.

I feel so sorry for my wife having to go through this. She has her OK days(throwing up 5 times or less) and her bad days(going to the hospital for fluids and drugs). Her doctor is very good and was proactive about solutions to Sherry's condition. This is our 3rd pregnancy(we lost our 2nd) with the same condition.

The first two pregnancies were with another set of doctors here in our area that are very good but did not want to be proactive. They would rather wait for symptoms to worsen before acting. Sherry spent about a full month in the hospital during her 2nd pregnancy because she had gotten so badly ill. We asked them several times to do an ultrasound to check up on the condition of the baby but they said that they weren't worried about the baby at that point. It wasn't until Sherry was released out of the hospital into home health care that we went back into the office for a routine check up and found the baby had passed while her stay in the hospital.

So after that series of events we went in search of a high risk pregnancy specialist and God gave us Dr. Keeton. Dr. Keeton is a young, full of life, Christian doctor that specializes in Sherry's condition. She happened to be in the same complex with the other practice of doctors.

We told Dr. Keeton our story of the second baby and of Noah's pregnancies amd how both were about the same. She was excited to here that we were willing to give it and her another chance. She immediately prescibed Sherry a bunch of meds to take once she had a positive pregnancy test. We've had our ups and downs during this pregnancy so far, but with God's help and the help of Dr. Keeton it's been the best yet. Her and her doctors at her practice actually listen to the patient and ask them questions of what is and isn't working. At the other unnamed practice they would ask you how you are doing but acts as if it's your fault for the treatment not working.

Anyway, we give thanks to God for another chance for life and we know he has gifted us with this child, our family, and with Dr. Keeton.

Words for an Atheist

This is a video from magician and know atheist Penn Gillette from the Las Vegas show The Penn & Teller Show. I just saw this on another person's blog and thought of it too intriguing not to put it in mine. I pray that the battering ram of the Gospel is starting to strike and break his heart of stone. Listen as he explains the authenticity of the man he came in contact with.  Let me know what you think. Enjoy.

The STORM is here!!!

I got my brand new Blackberry Storm yesterday and now I'm trying to figure how I lived life without it.

Originally I was going to help my aunt go and order one for herself because the store didn't have any in stock, but when we got there they had just received a Christmas miracle of 50 of the phones in that morning. My dad and I had just bought our Blackberry Curves about 2 months before but I asked an old manager of mine (I used to work at Verizon.) if my we could exchange our phones out for the new Storm. (It's not supposed to be done.) He went ahead and let us exchange them. Thank you! (You know who you are.)

The phone is incredible! My aunt is learning the Blackberry ropes, which does take a while. My dad and I are whizzing right through it.

Simply put, it's the best phone out!!! What iPhone??!!??

With Christmas just over a week away I finally finished all my shopping. It feels good to be able to buy nice things for friends and family. Noah was asking me at the mall while we were shopping why we were buying presents for people. I saw it as a great time to teach him another life lesson. I told him that, "We buy people gifts to show them that we love them and appreciate them for the things that they do for us. And just as God sent Jesus to us as a gift, we should offer people a gift. Christmas is about giving, not getting." He understood what I said because after the talk he wanted to buy everything in sight for everybody he knew, especially Eva.

It's great to see that Noah is starting to understand the principle of "giving is better then receiving."

Sorry for the blogging break.

I know its been a while since I've done anything web-based but it was all in good reason.

For the past couple of weeks I've been battling severe abdominal pain and this past Saturday I couldn't take it anymore and I went to the E.R. Little did I know that I would spend the next six days in the hospital and have my gall bladder removed. Lucky me.

Long time

I know its been a while since I've posted last and I really don't have a lot of time right now either, but I though to put together some thoughts.

I've been super busy at work lately. We just launched a new hiring process that has hit some bumpy roads. For example, we were supposed to have our hiring center open yesterday from 9am - 12pm taking online applications and interviewing. We did leave the center until 5pm. We normally have about 25 people apply but we had 55 yesterday. Needless to say our process has to be revamped.

A lot of changes are happening all around me. Work, church, family. Everything is changing, but I can say some changes are good and welcomed.

Beware - The "Hate Crimes Bill" will allow this!!!

Gay rights protesters disrupt Sunday service

DELTA TWP. - A radical gay rights group is claiming responsibility for a protest Sunday at Mount Hope Church in Delta Township.

Protesters who entered the Creyts Road church along with worshippers surprised the congregation when they stood up during the service, threw fliers at churchgoers and shouted slogans such as "It's OK to be gay," and "Jesus was a homo," according to David Williams, communications director at the church. His father, Dave Williams, is the church's longtime pastor. He was not preaching at the church Sunday.

Another group of protesters demonstrated outside the church at the same time as the indoor protest.

The Eaton County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene Sunday but no arrests were made.

In a released statement, David Williams said churchgoers were unclear as to the purpose of the demonstration.

A Lansing group affiliated with a radical gay organization known as Bash Back, formed to protest the Republican and Democratic national conventions earlier this year, put out a call on the Internet on Oct. 7 for activists to come to a "radical queer convergence" in Lansing on Nov. 7-9.
A posting on its MySpace page declared the convergence a "fierce success."

Fire alarm pulled
According to a report on the Bash Back group's news site, protesters inside the church pulled a fire alarm, unfurled a banner from the church balcony, shouted and threw fliers to the worshippers.

Outside the church, protesters carried picket signs and an upside-down, pink cross.

The conservative RightMichigan Web site posted an account of the incident Monday, and a number of conservative bloggers had picked up on the item by Tuesday.

Williams said the church had received 80 to 85 e-mails and phone calls by Tuesday, "from churches and individuals around the country to express their concern and general disgust for what happened on Sunday."

Nick De Leeuw of RightMichigan said he got his account of the incident from a church member who was there.

However, he said, the photo along with his report - of protesters dressed in black with their faces covered by pink, Middle-Eastern style headcoverings - was not from the protest at the church but from an earlier Bash Back protest elsewhere.

No arrests made
Mount Hope Church, affiliated with the Assemblies of God denomination, teaches followers that homosexuality is a sin.

However, "Mount Hope Church strives to follow Jesus' example of loving the sinner but not the sin," Williams said.

The Eaton County Sheriff's Department got a call regarding the protest at about noon Sunday, said Lt. Jeff Warder.

Warder said protesters outside the church left peacefully when someone from the team of pastors came outside and told them they were not welcome on church property.

Warder said deputies did not handle the protest inside the building.

No arrests were made.
In New York City on Tuesday, the conservative Catholic League said it would ask Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox to investigate the protest.

Typically, the sheriff's investigation would be turned over to the county prosecutor if the sheriff felt charges were warranted, said Matt Frendewey, spokesman for the attorney general's office.

He said it would be rare for the attorney general's office to get involved in such a case.

!!! Stressed Out !!!

Another week of orientation at work has me going crazy!

Sometimes I feel that new hires just do not understand want all it takes to bring them in and all the paperwork I have to do. I love want I do, but it can get a little overwhelming, especially during orientation.

Anyway, enough with my self-loathing.

My son's football team turned out another win this past Saturday making them a perfect 6-0. The kids on the team seem to be getting the concept of playing as a team and playing to win. I've been gradually taking over as the coach of the team and have been trying to put into balance of having fun and winning. The actual "coach" of the team is a great guy that is great with kids but never really has played sports himself. So he has really welcomed me to actually coach the team while he builds morale and confidence in the kids and it has worked really well for us. We have 2 more games this season and I would like to finish 8-0.

Go Bucks!!! (That's the name of the team.)

A Welcomed Visit

My sister, Nena, and my niece, Eva, came to visit me at the house this morning to see how I was doing. It always a good thing when family comes over even if the can't touch you.

Surprisingly Eva hasn't sang me a song yet. She loves to sing to her Tio.

Sick sick sick

Its been 3 days that I've been struggling with Bronchitis. I do seem to be getting better although my fever did break yesterday. I'm dealing extreme body aches, chest and sinus congestion.

I hate feeling sick, but who does. I feel like I'm the worst at being sick. I don't feel like doing anything but sleeping. I struggle to walk or do anything.

I hope to feel better soon. I have so much to do at work.

Human Cloning

I did not authorize anyone to clone me. Its amazing how smart scientist are. Its like looking into a mirror.

No Boo for You

We as a family do not celebrate Halloween. As we've studied the holiday's origin and purpose we feel as Christians we should not take any part of it. My son is great about understanding why we don't celebrate Halloween and now he doesn't even ask anymore about getting a costume. (To read about the origins of Halloween click here.)

What is hard about not celebrating the holiday is trying to stay in the house. So we've decided to take Noah and my niece, Eva, to Chuck E. Cheese's tonight. We're going to celebrate his good grades he got on his report card.

Great Job, son. I'm so proud of you.

CaCaCaCa Cold!!!

I was so cold riding my bike to work this morning. So hard not to stop. 36 degrees. bbbrrrrrr!!!

Normally on days like this I would have car pooled with my boss (and friend) but he has to leave early today. Since we both can't be out of the office I have to stay late, hence the driving the motorcycle. I just need to find a $500 car for cold days to drive to work. If anyone has a car that they have cheap that I can get, please, let me know!

I guess this is as good of a time as any to start my Christmas wish list.

  1. WrapChaps - great for riding in cold weather
  2. Tour Master Winter Elite Gloves
  3. Floorboards w/ Heel-Toe Shifter
  4. Purple and Yellow Heritage Soft tail (You know who you are!)
  5. A Daughter
  6. Money for next Guatemala mission trip
  7. .....and, world peace! (That's for you, Baby!)
